In His Rest
by Kim Brock
Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Lately, I’ve been really desiring to know what it means to “Enter into His rest” and each time I’ve gained some understanding Satan, the deceiver has worked to torment my mind, through either circumstance or using other people who don’t know God, it is safe to say that he , the enemy does not want me or any of Gods children to truly enter into the rest of God.
My Idea of rest is totally yielding every area of my life to God, from my insecurities to finances to relationships even day to day situations, that way, I am worry free and at peace with my life. What’s so neat is that what Jesus did at Calvary enabled us to receive that rest, He was as it says in Hebrews in all points tempted yet with out sin..and in the following scripture it says let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need why can be come to Him?, because he was touched in all points with the feelings of our infirmities Hebrews 4:15 KJV For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Check this out in the next chapter Hebrews 5:1-5 KJV For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
in Hebrews Chapter 4 vrs 2, it says a priest can have compassion on the ignorant and them out of the way because he is also compassed with infirmity that is why Jesus is able to sympathize with our afflictions and infirmities, because he was tempted with them also.
Our rest: Jesus knows all about what we face, He is able to comfort us. He knew us from the foundation of the world. He knows us intimately.
Matthew 11:28-30 KJV Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Luke 4:18-19 KJV The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Thank you Lord.
