Overtaken In A Fault
A couple of blogs ago, I mentioned some things about restoration. I wanted to go on with it a little and talk about how we are are a body of encouraging brothers in sisters no matter what goes on. Walk in love, encouragement, meekness, patience, love and also LOVE. Why do we let our brothers and sisters lay on the battle fields bleeding to death and all we can ‘say’ is “oh well, I knew they wouldn’t last” or, “they weren’t really saved…” or something ignorant like that. It is true that some people speak and say the word but they are non of Christs and that’s very true but I mean those that struggling in the body. We all have the Holy Word as our guide and we have our brothers and sisters as or partners on the battlefield. It’s not necessarily everyman for himself although we are working out our own salvation.
A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
We must pray for and uplift each other, that’s why you hear and see people praying for the BODY of Christ that we may be encouraged in the power and strength of the chief cornerstone. With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring (make an effort) to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Ephesians 4:2-16)
The spirit of encouragement in meekness comes in knowing that we can be overtaken in a fault. Although all of our brothers and sisters have dealt with some of the same things we have in temptation, we are not above those who may suffer through falling in greater temptation.
(1 Corinthians 10:1-6) Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:7-13)
We are all striving for the excellency that is in Jesus, our Lord and Savior. A person thinking they’ve reached the height of spirituality in Christ is mistaken because as long as you have sin in your mortal body you will suffer mistakes until you’re changed at the 2nd coming of our Lord. So, let’s encourage each other in the love of God, ourselves, our brothers and sisters and in the truth that is in the Holy word of God. We much keep each other encouraged!
