The Slay

Two Chapters in the bible specifically speak  on unity in the body of Christ, Ephesians Chapters 4 & 5.   Chapter 4 beckons to the people at Ephesus to “endevour to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace”(Ephesians 4:3) 43,000 different denominations around the globe do not speak well to what  Paul was conveying to the Ephesians.

There was once a knight living in a war torn land. He was a small boy during the times of intense battle and as a result had to live the remainder of  his childhood without parents.  On his 16th birthday he received a letter, compliments of the King of the warn torn land; “You must report to  combat training with your other comrades. The training will begin on the 1st day of the 7th month. Please respond so that we can account for you.”

You’re Faithful King

The knight looked over the letter, it looked weird to him because of the forwardness and lack of invitation, it was more of a command.  The young Knight decided that he would train on his own “What better way to please the king , he thought.

The field near the young  knights home was prefect for training and his guardians owned two horses.  He picked the stronger of the two and began training.  Day and night, week after week, and the months past and he trained practicing various sword moves and positions.  His heart was set on pleasing the King.

On the last day of the 6th month word spread that the enemies camp had invaded the territory.  The young knight had overheard a conversation between two elderly me farming in a near by field. “I need to go and help them”  He put on what little gear he had along with his sword and set off in the direction of the battle. When he arrived all he could see was mayhem and destruction.  The enemies camp had moved quickly into the territory setting fires and killing anyone in there sight, women and children weren’t an option, they were also slain.

The young knight approached the battle field and then it struck him.  He had no idea who his conglomerates were, for he did not attend any combat training, except on his own. he looked around and notices the most who lay on the field in black armor and reasoned within himself that the greater portion of those laying in the field were those whom he would not slay.   Instead he would slay those in white armor. He believed that the enemy was conquering the inhabitants of the territory.

The knight drew his sword and entered the battle field slaying those in white armor.   One after the other fell to their death, faster and faster the horse ran and the young knight slew more and more of the white knights suddenly a white horse was parallel to him, the man yelled “Who are you!? ” I am Andrew,  I received a letter 6 months ago telling me to come to combat training, I trained and did well on my own and now with my slayings I will be pleasing to the  King”  “NO!”  the older knight yelled and leaped of his horse tackling the young knight. They both fell to the ground the older knight screamed “NO, are you crazy?! YOU SLEW YOUR OWN COMRADES. THE KNIGHTS IN BLACK WHERE FROM THE ENEMY’S CAMP!!! The young knight was speechless he mumbled “I…I..didn’t…know…I’m.mm ..sorry”

There is one body and one Spirit–just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call– one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” (In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Ephesians 4:4-16 ESV

We are in this battle together.  There’s no  room for divisions or strives among us.  Let us endeavor to keep the peace and make the efforts to communicate and bond with each other in love and true spirituality.

  1. This reminds me of all the different denominations and how none are the same. It also points out how someone may seek God on their own, without the church, (mainly the “Church of God”). They might find him or they might not.
